About WhatsRipeNow

WhatsRipeNow is a free guide to u‑pick farms and Christmas tree farms in 7 states. It helps families find out what they can pick, where, and roughly when.

Who runs it

WhatsRipeNow is run by RK Portals I/S, a small Danish company: Gl. Nyrupvej 76, 4400 Kalundborg, Denmark, CVR 28823282. Email: hello@whatsripenow.com.

Where the information comes from

Published facts come only from public sources and from the farm itself (its website, its other public pages, or direct contact with the farm). Every field is logged with its source and the date we read it, and each section on a farm page shows its source and read date. In practice: most details come from the farm's own website; some addresses and towns come from the USDA Local Food Directories, the Ohio Department of Agriculture's public Ohio Proud list, OpenStreetMap or the US Census Bureau geocoder and TIGERweb; map locations come from the US Census Bureau (geocoder and Gazetteer) and, for a few farms the Census geocoder could not match, from OpenStreetMap; typical Ohio seasons come from Ohio State University Extension and Ohio Proud. We use other farm directories to find farms and link to their listing. We never copy their text or data.

What “u‑pick confirmed” means

A farm is “u-pick confirmed” when its own website names u-pick (pick-your-own) for at least one crop, and we quote it with the date we read it. Farms we found in public sources whose own website does not (yet) say so are listed as “U-pick not yet confirmed by the farm”: our best assessment, so check with the farm. A farm can confirm its u-pick, or correct its page, any time via For farms.

The map is displayed with OpenFreeMap (© OpenMapTiles). Map data and some addresses and locations © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL), openstreetmap.org/copyright.

What we don't do

Listings are free. Our order of farms is not for sale. We don't show live picking status. If a farm's website says a crop is closed or not available this year, we quote it with the date we read it, and say when the farm's text is undated. Always check with the farm before you go.

For farms

Is something wrong or missing, or would you rather not be listed? See For farms or email us and we'll fix or remove the page.
